United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF)

The UNICEF Committee in Model United Nations (MUN) simulates the work of the United Nations Children's Fund, which is responsible for providing humanitarian and developmental aid to children worldwide. In this committee, delegates represent various countries to discuss and address global issues affecting children, such as access to education, healthcare, child protection, and poverty. The focus is on creating solutions that uphold the rights and well-being of children, following the principles of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. The committee emphasizes collaboration, negotiation, and drafting resolutions to improve children's lives globally.

Aabir Banerjee is a rising senior at Central Jersey College Prep Charter School (CJCP), and has been a student at CJCP since 2018, when he first joined the middle school Model UN team under the guidance of Mrs. Mathias and Mrs. Abdelhamid. Since then, Aabir has been an enthusiastic debater and orator, MCing many school functions, and acting as the morning announcer for the school since his ninth grade year, while taking a brief hiatus from participating in Model UN. In his free time, Aabir loves to read about and stay up to date with current events relating to healthcare and sanitation globally, and encourages those in Model UN to read about those topics as well. Rejoining the club in 11th grade, after five years, Aabir won the Outstanding Delegate Award at the Princeton Model UN Conference in 2023, and is eager to see where his Model UN journey takes him next.
